Provide the YMOD with an opportunity to gain exposure to colleges and universities at the high school fair and celebrate the richness of our African American culture with guest speakers, and activities during the Black History Month program.

The Socratic seminar is a formal discussion, based on a text, in which the leader asks open-ended questions. Within the context of the discussion, students listen closely to the comments of others, thinking critically for themselves, and articulate their own thoughts and their responses to the thoughts of others. Harper’s inspirational book provides advice in a down-to-earth style. His unique compilation of letters will provide wisdom, guidance, and heartfelt insight to help the YMOD chart their own path to success.

A community service outreach project that enables the YMOD the opportunity to serve others. This is a combined service project with the MML Social Committee that connects high school students with local families to provide food and assistance during the holiday season.
